1. All communication at meetings of the Undergraduate Senate must be public. Members of the Undergraduate Senate may not send emails, place telephone calls, text, or use instant messaging or social networking tools (e.g.GChat, AIM, Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, or any MMPORPG).
2. Members of the Undergraduate Senate may not use laptops/other electronic devices (for example, but not limited to, desktops, smart phones, PDA’s, MP3 players) at any point during a meeting except for the following cases: (1) during a Filibuster, any and all electronic device use is allowed, (2) while making a presentation, (3) to compute a number or access MyGroups or other Association banking software, (4) to document or prepare a written statement in response to the current speaker or previous speaker to be delivered during that same meeting during the next available slot in the speaking order, or (5) for the express purpose of researching information immediately relevant to the bill/order/resolution or other motion being discussed. Researching information is strictly limited to finding, examining or otherwise accessing the Governing Documents of the Association, minutes, agendas and bills of the Association, Stanford news media (e.g. The Stanford Daily, The Stanford Review, The Stanford Progressive) and scholarly articles.
3. The use of a laptop or other computing device to teleconference a Senator or other speaker who cannot be present due to reasons which do not violate the Constitution, By-Laws or other relevant governing documents, is also allowed.
